Hints and Tips
Selection
• Choose the absorbency based on the volume of urine passed. Start by choosing a lower absorbency number before moving to a higher absorbency.
• Choose the correct size fixation pant according to the hip and waist size and take whichever is the largest.
• Attends Contours Regular and Air Comfort 4 and 5 can be worn with close fitting underwear.
Fitting
• Ensure that the product is fully unfolded before fitting.
• Fold lengthways and gently cup the product.
• Place the smaller end of the product to the front and the larger end of the product to the back of the body.
• Position the product towards the front for men and centrally for women.
• Ensure the correct size of Attends fixation pant are being worn or a suitable equivalent.
• If the product is fitted when the user is laying down follow the same sequence as for fitting the product in a standing position.
Changing
• Check the wetness indicator – if the wetness indicator has disappeared over half the length of the product (60%) or if it contains faeces the product requires changing. If not the product can be reapplied.
• Clean and dry products can be reapplied after toileting.
• Remove soiled products from the rear where possible.
• Clean skin as per your local policy. Clean from front to back.
• Only use prescribed creams and apply as per the manufacturer’s instructions.
Leakage
• Check all aspects of fitting and assessment.
• Check that you have the correct size of fixation pant.
Disposal
• Roll up the product and dispose of as per your local authority or NHS waste policy.
• Do not flush the product down the toilet.
• Attends fixation pants are re-usable.
