Ergotrics Morphematic – Lateral Patient Turning System
The
Morphematic is a
lateral patient turning system designed to support efficient repositioning of people who are unable to change position independently in bed. It is a mattress cover/topper with
two alternating inflatable air compartments that automatically tilt the user to the left and right, supporting regular repositioning
without manual lifting.
Morphematic can be used to support turning for care tasks (e.g., hygiene and skin checks) and where frequent turning schedules are required.
Benefits (patient + caregiver)
- Reduced manual handling: designed to reposition without lifting, helping reduce physical strain for caregivers.
- Time-saving: repositioning described as achievable in less than a minute.
- Stable positioning: intended to provide stable positioning (including when sitting upright in bed), reducing reliance on pillows that can move or collapse.
- Pressure care support: independent pressure mapping tests cited by the supplier reported equal or better pressure distribution versus a conventional anti-decubitus air mattress in testing comparisons.
How it works
Morphematic uses
two inflatable air compartments that inflate alternately to tilt the patient from supine into a lateral position on the left or right side. This allows repositioning and care to be completed “at the push of a button”, and it may also be used on programmed cycles (per supplier leaflet wording).
